GAI stands out as a model of energy efficiency and sustainability, being today completely autonomous in the production of electrical and thermal energy. Thanks to an advanced tri-generation plant, the company guarantees operational continuity and a reduced environmental impact, positioning itself as one of the most innovative realities in Italy.
A Plant at the Cutting Edge
GAI's energy system consists of:
- A 2,350 kWp photovoltaic system, with an annual production of more than 2.5 million kWh, making maximum use of solar energy for self-consumption.
- Three Viessmann cogenerators with a total output of around 1,300 kW, capable of generating 3 million electrical kWh and over 4 million thermal kWh annually. Fuelled by natural gas, these plants optimise the consumption of approximately 1 million m³/year, guaranteeing high levels of energy efficiency.
- Piller's 1,500 kW uninterruptible power supply ensures stable, high quality electricity (400V ±5%, 50 Hz, cos 0.997). Thanks to a 43 mega Joule kinetic storage, the system is able to overcome all micro-interruptions without the use of batteries, thus avoiding environmental issues related to disposal.
- Cummins 1,500 kW emergency power unit, designed to intervene in the event of macro-breaks, guaranteeing operational continuity even in critical situations.
A Strategic Investment and a Significant Environmental Impact
The plant, built with an investment of around 10 million euros, has guaranteed an economic return in just 6 years, demonstrating the effectiveness of the energy strategy adopted.
Since its inauguration in 2015, GAI has been able to overcome all supply interruptions, ensuring uninterrupted production.
Environmental benefits: the annual CO₂ saving is estimated at 1,800 tonnes, equivalent to 12 million km travelled by car, i.e. 300 times around the Earth!
Thanks to this innovative infrastructure, GAI can boast one of the most complete tri-generation plants in Italy, a virtuous example of how technology and sustainability can coexist for a greener and more efficient future.
